verdict: Belhaven neighborhood between Millsaps and Belhaven and south of the medical school is still safe

and they can all take Canton road heading north (do not veer to the west of State Street) and get to good restaurants and Whole Foods and etc

It’s nice, but it’s not safe. I know several people who have been mugged or carjacked in Belhaven.

When I lived at the junction of Woodland Hills and Fondren decades ago my little old lady neighbor got beat with a tire iron and robbed early one morning in her own kitchen. That was considered a “safe” area back then.

No place in Jackson proper is truly safe. I think Jackson Country Club is gated, so that may be relatively safe.

No area in Jackson is safe. Not even next to the Jackson Country Club or Eastover. Hell Ridgeland is just as bad on the east side of I55. Clinton is bad also. You’re only areas to really be able to feel safe raising a family and have good public schools are going to be Madison, Gluckstadt, Flowood, and Brandon (Rez side or actual Brandon)
