What you're referring to is David Allen Coe's "Underground Album". Filled with a bunch of raunchy songs that are over-the-top racist and all sorts of sexual content. But he came out later and said that it was all meant to be a joke. In fact, it turned out that he even had a black guy who was his drummer in his group when he made that album. Apparently, the black guy even helped him write some of the songs.

I saw David Allan Coe rap at Coyotes in Louisville. He was too fat to get up out of his chair but he sat there with his dreadlocked dumb arse and rapped.
It sucked. Good thing we had plenty of beer.

He used to play a bar in New Philadelphia, Ohio on a regular basis, (he was originally from Akron). So many people who go nuts over Chris Stapleton's version of Tennessee Whiskey have no idea that David Allen Coe wrote it. It amazes me that SOB is still alive at 83.
