I feel bad for Billy. He is working with a program that is broke.

I don't feel bad for Florida though

He really walked into a bad situation IMO.

Richardson was criminally overrated as a QB by their fan base, giving them an unrealistic expectation of what Napier had to work with. He was more rich man’s Emory Jones than poor man’s Cam Newton like they expected.

Making the situation even worse, the OL is a train wreck and the skill players are average at best. I respect Mullen as a play caller, but he didn’t leave much of anything for Napier to work with from a talent standpoint.

I do think Napier is better off without the NIL headaches that would’ve accompanied Rashada. The issue there is he would’ve come in expecting to start and his tape doesn’t make me think he could do what guys like Tua, Bryce or Joe Burrow couldn’t, that is play winning football as a TF.

So he would’ve showed up not ready, lost the starting job and immediately become a locker room issue while again making the fans think Napier had more to work with than he actually did.

He’s showing some progress in rebuilding the OL via the portal, but I’m not sure he has any real weapons at the skill positions which is going to be a problem considering Mertz isn’t a guy who should be starting in the SEC either.

All in all 2023 is looking like another tough season down in Gainesville.
