First impressions:
- First few games are not too bad. Think we lose to Utah with Rising coming back and the game in Utah (I think the altitude difference will be a bigger factor than the humidity at the Swamp was last season), but then we have a few cupcakes, Tennessee at home, and then Kentucky on the road. Pretty manageable and lends well to building experience for all the new guys and allow the team to find an identity. To me, game 7 is when it's going to get really tricky (game 1 aside).
- I really dislike back to back road games at LSU and Mizzou in November.
- Frick Georgia and FSU.

I can not even make a prediction at this point. Probably not even after spring.
Will see what we possibly have after the Utah game.
Because I have a feeling the defense will be just as bad as last year. And the offense will be much different then last year. Hopefully the O-line will gel and come together. But at this point and time I see a 6-6 team with that schedule.

Idk what to think right now - I guess we know just as much about the 2023 team, like the rest of UF's opponents - no one knows anything about the 23 team, except for the fact that we have 2 stud RBs.

5-7 seems likely. Losses are likely vs Utah, Tenn, UGA, LSU, and FSU. UK, USCe, and Mizzou are toss ups.

And the hits just keep on coming.

Sounding like Rashada is going to end up possibly at AZ State or TCU and they aren't big boys in NIL. I bet that kid ends up with less than half of what our big boosters were truly willing to give him at the end.

Not sure the reason for a Thursday night O/B Spring game on a Thursday Night.
Other than Napier is trying to feel the crowd for a possible Thursday night opener in Swamp in the very near future.

No matter at all. every high-school in the state of Florida could have there spring game on a Friday and fsu and Miami could have there spring game at 1pm and 5 pm on Saturday.
Still doesn't make any sense to me to have a spring game on a Thursday night

Recruiting
Recruiting
Recruiting
also:
quote:
"We're really excited to announce we're moving to Thursday night, April the 14th with a 7:30 p.m. kickoff," Napier said in March of 2022 about moving the game to a Thursday. "This is going to create an opportunity for us to engage the student body for the first time. We are going to be able to get them here prior to Easter break. We're going to have some of the best recruits in the entire country here to show them what the University of Florida and Gator Nation are all about."
quote:
Last year's Thursday-night spring game attracted 26 prospects from the 2023 and 2024 classes who earned four or five-star status on the industry generated 247Sports Composite. Additionally, 10 players — 2023 offensive linemen Knijeah Harris and Bryce Lovett, 2023 wide receivers Eugene Wilson, Aidan Mizell and Andy Jean, 2023 defensive linemen Kamran James, Will Norman and Gavin Hill, 2023 running back Treyaun Webb, and 2024 running back Chauncey Bowens — ended up either enrolling at Florida or are currently committed to the program.
Also, if you were a recruit, where would you rather be? Tallahassee or Miami in the afternoon? Or Gainesville at 7pm on "Primetime SEC Network"?
And another thing, Miami and FSU's dates are already set:
Florida 4/14 (Thursday)
Miami 4/15 (Friday)
FSU 4/16 (Saturday)
Maybe you should be mad at Miami for having there's on Friday as well.
Moving it to Thursday isn't that big of a deal.

I guess we been to have a Thursday night game during the season if it's all about recruiting then there would be no excuses for any players florida is recruiting to not come to the swamp say in September on a Thursday night for a game

i don't know what to tell you. i literally quoted billy's own words for you.
if you think it's to gauge pubic interest on a Thursday night for a spring game....
eta: a 247 poster made these comments
1. Thursday night allows access to the recruits and allows access to those especially who intend to leave the state Friday to go to an Alabama, Ohio State, Clemson or Georgia.
2. You're relying on the student body to fill seats more than traditional fans and season ticket holders. Understanding the dynamics of having a strong fan base, and Jacksonville/Tampa are within 3 hours, focus on spring being about the kids experiencing it for themselves. You want them to be there for the regular season as well. It's a bigger priority for Billy as he's focused on future donors, because the message board geniuses mostly don't pay much.
3. Prime time TV. Not only will you have the recruits, but now that it's planned in advance, you'll get the airtime. Having all eyes on the Gators on a Thursday night when everyone is starving to see something is genius. Not only fans want to watch but so do rivals.
4. The schedule sets up for Easter weekend once again and getting kids from Miami or further might be actually more difficult. They tend to go to the closest game possible on a Saturday so schools like Coral Gables, Auburn, Tennessee or even Georgia. The students haven't left town yet either. It's a NIL affect to it.
5. If you can get them in town Thursday night, you can possibly get them to stay into Saturday or Sunday. Gives you more time to recruit.

Do you know how QB Max Brown intends to juggle football and baseball? Will football practice always take priority?
Posted on 2/1/23 at 3:11 pm to Gator Fever
I think we should just forget about Max Brown.

y'all plan on making it to one of Billy's speaking tour locations?
