I was surprised that Howard transferred instead of Nuss. But let’s be real, from Howard’s class…Weigman is starting, Ewers is starting, Ty Simpson probably starts or runs with the 2’s next year. Howard was going to spend another year on the scout team? He was going to fall behind his peers had he stayed. Plus, Nuss is a good QB so it’s not like you guys don’t have depth.

Not surprised, but the aggie is correct otherwise.

Yep, clearly third string next year (barring injury or transfer) behind Daniels and Nuss. Then presume Nuss starts the next year. So he sits three years and then has to hold off the next big-time QB recruit (Colin Hurley). Old days he would have stayed and tried to win the job at some point. Now a lot of these guys move on. Oh well.

Yeah, it's disappointing to lose a high recruit, but it seems like best-case scenario for LSU.

When Howard was recruited, seemed like there was a hole to fill at QB here. Daniels wasn't on roster yet, and nobody expected Nussmeier to emerge the way he has. A week ago, most people expected Nussmeier to leave, and Walker to be handed the keys in 2024.
So, for Howard to leave, I think Nussmeier had to have made it known he's planning to stay. Otherwise, it really makes zero sense.

I say that, because besides the Rant bitching about Daniels as the starting QB, there's really no negativity coming from the actual team. Boutte leaving, he was a bit flaky; Bech leaving, he just couldn't crack the lineup (and dropped the ball when he did see the field). By and large, the program seems to exude a pretty positive vibe, no reason to suspect people to jump.
