What happened to pre-NIL and the transfer portal? How was that an advantage to Clemson and Dabo?

We’ve gotten several key contributors in the portal over the past few seasons. And we have recruited the #3 and #2 class in the NIL era. So yes, Kirby is good at both.

Clemson has built their empire on recruits that have traditionally gone to UT. Our rise is a very bad thing for them just as their empire has been very bad for us. Starting with Tajh Boyd and all the way to Sunshine Trevor Lawrence, Dabo has been using recruits that would have been ours had we not been a complete dumpster fire.
Hell, Clemson's sports media covered this pre-game and highlighted how important this game was to Clemson. So many of their great recruits have been recruits that otherwise would've gone to Tennessee. No team has benefited more from us being down.
Between this game, our general rise, and our NIL program, they've got every reason to be worried about the future.

We recruited a backup quarterback from Virginia Tech that we thought would fit our system, you recruited the number one receiver from 2 different teams when you already have the number 1 team... It's different

They refuse to get it. They don't want to acknowledge the difference between a team full of 5*s and blue chips doing well and a team full of left overs and misfit toys doing well.

Clemson went from having top four recruiting classes annually to just barely making the top ten. Not adapting to NIL.
