Hopefully "child porn" in this case means he got nudes from some freshman girl who didn't turn 18 until mid-September.

This. And if it’s this it’s one of those cases where common sense should be used over “technically illegal”
It’s legal for an 18 yr old to date within 2 years his age, so anything exchanged consensually should be legal within that same age range
