Not sure how much of the struggle was Scangs fault this year with the terrible offensive line play but optimistic we can bring Brown home now.

Scang had to realize he needed to simplify the offense and go with quicker developing plays. He also needed more play action to freeze the linebackers but insisted on the long drawn out out BS. But what got him fired was red zone offense.

From Mike's link:

In 2021 Kentucky ranked No. 8 in the red zone, scoring touchdown on 72.2% of its appearances. Despite the return of Will Levis and Chris Rodriguez, this year the Wildcats rank 103rd, turning only 53.2% of their red zone appearances into touchdowns. It’s why Kentucky scored 10 fewer points per game (22.1) than a year ago. If the Wildcats scored 25 points in every game, their only loss would be to Tennessee. Kentucky ranked 105th in scoring offense, 107th in total offense, 109th in rushing offense and 88th in passing offense.

Watch the line when they just line up and man block. The problem is NOT the offensive line. They've been a convenient scapegoat. I get tired of saying it ... but I'll say it again ...

Problem #1 - Scangerello and his philosophy. Multiple offensive line blocking schemes that make the kids tentative. Declared Day One that he didn't like the idea of Levis running the football. And watch the games ... he absolutely does not challenge the middle third of the field, via the pass, between five and fifteen yards.

Problem #2 - Will Levis. He stopped running, which was about 40% of his effectiveness last year. He fell in love with his arm, and a coach telling him to win with his arm.

Watch the South Carolina game. This line moved the ball, off their own one, against a nine man box ... by just playing traditional man on man blocking.
