In the final BCS standings after the conference championship games in 2007... 11-1 Kansas finished 8th.
Shouldn't the ONLY two 1 lose teams in the nation, Ohio State and Kansas, have played for the National Championship???
Please explain why the one lose Power 5 team finished 8th instead of 2nd.
Looks to me like 2007 should be an *.

BCS era/computers.
They lost at the wrong time as well. Early losses didn't hurt nearly as bad as late.

Kansas didn’t win its conference or division, weak schedule. They took the teams with the best resumes.

2nd in north division. Didn’t play for conference title.

You want to apply that asterisk to 2017 as well?

Ohhhh... So like Ohio State this year, right?

Their loss was in regulation. Others were undefeated in regulation.

You putting the asterisk on 2017, because undefeated UCF did not get in?

The BcS was trash, which is why it's gone.

They didn’t win their conference, and the rest of us don’t get to play for a national championship without doing that.
By the way, this is a strange troll attempt.

Sounds like UCF got jobbed in 2017.

2007 LSU is actually very similar to 2022 Alabama. Thought highly of in the pre-season, but not actually very good. There was so much chaos that 2007 LSU still made the title game and got to play a terrible Jim Tressel OSU team there. (For the younger crowd, it's hard to overstate how bad the Big 10 was before Meyer went to OSU.)

SEC was a loaded conference that year, easily the best in the country. LSU beat 7 ranked teams en route to the title.
Ohio State was the clear #1 heading into the title game loss to LSU.

Need them back honestly with the CFP committee replacing the weight of the Coaches and Harris Human polls.
The formula was just about right. It was right in 2007 as well. Never heard an argument over #4.
The balance of objective predetermined metrics and subjective human eye tests is better than the latter alone.

The seven ranked teams (ranked at the time of the game obviously):
Virginia Tech: 11-3
South Carolina: 6-6
Florida: 9-4
Auburn: 9-4
Alabama: 7-6
Tennessee: 10-4
Ohio State: 11-2
Losses:
Kentucky: 8-5
Arkansas: 8-5
OSU was a 5 point dog to LSU in the NCG. They were not good. USC was better. Georgia was better.
