Older LSU/Bama fans, can you explain 1969-2000?

I was not around for that, and that stat blows my mind.
How did LSU not beat Bama in Tiger Stadium for so long? I know there was a tie in there somewhere.
LSU had good teams in the 70's and 80's. It's truly amazing how it happened.
Anyone who was there, what happened?

1969-2000 my dude. I know what happened in the 90's.

It was a joke about fans from 2000 being "older."

Yea, I hear ya. It's weird to me also. I guess I didn't explain that well enough.

That makes sense for the 70's.
What about the 80's?

It really is mind boggling. The two programs were pretty even in the 80s. So its weird

LSU's record against Bama at home hasn't been great since 2000 either. Only 4 wins, and have been shut out 3 times in BR and once in New Orleans.

Yea, and that also makes perfect sense since Les Miles and Ed O were the coaches. Neither of those guys has anywhere near the mental capicity to match wits with Saban.
Damn strong football teams that have a "want" or "we gon trow da ball and sco geauxtiguh.." are not enough.

I think cholla Mac enjoying a platoon qb system didn’t help. Tigers defense was always above average
They just couldn’t beat Alabama- but who was consistently beating the tide?

Is this you saying he would have ended the streak?
Or are you being a disgusting a-hole?
My apologies, I just can't tell.

Well from 1971-1981 Bama lost 4 total conference games. Nobody was beating them. The 80’s were weird. Bama won in Baton Rouge and LSU at Bama.

One of those shutouts at home came against Nick Saban in 2002. 31-0. Even the GOAT isn't immune from the Baton Rouge Bama curse

I've always been curious about why Dietzel left LSU for Army. He won a NC at LSU and was 10-1 his last season in BR. And he left for Army?

Oddly enough LSU was 7-8 @ Alabama during that stretch. Which is actually pretty good considering how great Bama was in the 70s and how bad LSU was parts of the 80s and 90s.
LSU is 6-5 @ Alabama since 2000.

From 1969-2000 LSU won 5 games in Baton Rouge. That's really bad on your home field.
From 1969-2021
In 52 years LSU has won 18 games, either at home, BD or B'ham. Again that's really bad.
They had a good win streak from 2000-2007 only losing in 2002, but pretty much Alabama has had their way with them.
