Just to set the record straight, Tuscaloosa is slightly closer to Mobile than Baton Rouge.

Downtown Mobile to LSU in Baton Rouge is 202.73 miles.

Downtown Mobile to The University in Tuscaloosa is 196.65 miles.

The misinformation about the distance from Mobile to Tuscaloosa is the result of a mapquest route that goes through Mississippi. No one actually drives that route. Everyone going to Tuscaloosa from Mobile drives north on highway 43 to highway 25, then highway 69 into Tuscaloosa.

Baton Rouge and Tuscaloosa are really equal distance from Mobile, albeit, Tuscaloosa about 5 miles closer. Since the route from Mobile to Baton Rouge is almost all interstate it is probably a little faster but not closer. The difference either way was negligible until Nick Saban arrived. It appears now that you can't get to Baton Rouge from Mobile.

and mobile is closer to baton rouge. if we paid 250k for a backup dl i'm sure the bammers down there would be screaming about it.

on a side note it's sad how much bama fans go after fulmer. yeah he turned you in, but maybe you should focus some of your hate on the boosters that put your program in that position.

Tough to argue with logic

Isn't that odd. In Louisiana it's "[t]ough to argue with logic," but only when the logic is based upon a fallacy. This thread should be saved as a classic example of LSU logic and class.

Back when I was in school time wise Baton Rouge was closer. I-10/12 a lot faster than 43 (which was mostly 2 lane.

I've heard the arguements many time that Baton Rouge is the closest SEC school to Mobile. That is why we pull in a lot of recruits from that area. Or at least did at one time!

I drove from Daphne AL to B.R for the Miss State game and got their in less than 3 hours.

You will not make it to Tuscaloosa in 3 hours. That ride up Hwy 43/Hwy 69 is brutal.

True! I do not care what the distance is. The time to get there is what matters to me and Baton Rouge is at a minimum 30-45 minutes faster!I live in Fairhope now, but still own a home in TTown.

Takes me 2:40 door to door Mobile to BR. WAY over 3 hours from Mobile to Tuscaloosa through West AL...horrible drive.

Auburn is right at 3 hours.

It's around 3 hours for me from Gonzales to Mobile. Going up to T-Town from Mobile is more like 4-5 hours, and it's a miserable drive through rural Alabama.
