the game progressed. Not that the OC ever helps him, but it was pretty clear he was off. Bye week is big.

I thought so too, it can be hard to tell sometimes, though. Sometimes it's just the timing being off. I thought the same as you while I was watching the game. I was surprised he played as long as he did in the game with us having a good lead. Also surprised we didn't run the ball more late in the game even when he was in. So I figured Bryce was just trying to work on his passing, hopefully it's a good sign and not a bad one. Maybe he started rushing his throws some after the game was in hand, to avoid taking unnecessary hits?

I think he’s compensating for the lack of strength in his arm. He needs his strength back to be accurate. He had to crow hop to get the ball down the field and was still short. It got worse as the game went along.

Yeah, he seemed to start lobbing the ball a bit after halftime. Makes sense. He warms his shoulder up, gets it loose, then it tightens up and loses strength at the half.

He was throwing off his back foot.

Per SEC StatCat

1st Half
- 88.24% Adjusted Accuracy (adjusted based on depth of throw)
- 60.00% Accuracy (8 of 20 throws were innacurate) (15/20 actual completed)

2nd Half
- 46.15% Adjusted Accuracy (adjusted based on depth of throw)
- 26.67% Accuracy (11 of 15 throws were inaccurate) (6/15 actual completed)

Compare that to the previous 3 games (@ Tennessee, @ Arkansas, A&M)
- 84.81% Adjusted Accuracy
- 70.30% Accuracy (30 of 101 throws were inaccurate) (67/101 actual completed)

So, everyone's eyes were not misleading them. He was very inaccurate in the 2nd half, and really pretty inaccurate for the whole game. Definitely have to wonder if that was injury/no practice related.

Clearly the bye week came at the perfect time for him and for the offense in general.

This was only the 4th time in Young's Alabama career where he was held below a 60% Accuracy%.

Saturday's showing is a new low; the previous floor was last year's Iron Bowl where he logged a 50.9% clip

How much has to do with his shoulder injury?

I'd imagine it is almost entirely related to that - not necessarily that he was so injured he couldn't throw, but it got tight, he tried to work around it, etc.

He took some absolutely brutal shots the last two games.

Limited use over the two previous weeks (conditioning - playing shape), muscle/jointfatigue, Soreness, tightness after halftime cooldown, reduced strength (individual throws and more so with cumulative throws), change of post injury status negates some muscle memory

Could not control the LOS. MSU stoned them in the 2nd half and they had to pass. Bama ended up with 27 rushes for 29 yds.

Based on his facial expression after the TD to Earle, I'm putting that shoulder at about 70%. At best. Props to him for gutting it out.

When we run an offense where the QB runs in circles till someone comes open, its guaranteed the completions will go down because no one knows what to do on the play.
