Maybe it's by design? I could see someone who wanted jump from the sinking Aggie ship doing this to give them a semi-acceptable reason for leaving. "Damn, bro, coach benches me for a blunt? FTS I'm outta here".

Not a good look, but better than "my team sucks and I don't want to stick around and make it better - where's the portal at?".
