From listening to talk radio here in Lexington and perusing some UK message boards, it seems that Kentucky rarely blitzes. They prefer to sit back and play soft zone.

Normally, you are exactly correct.

Yet, against MSU - and no one was more surprised than me - Kentucky sent pressure. And it worked like a charm. They have kids, at all four LB spots, that can run.

I'm not ready to build Mark Stoops a statue. One reason, other than the awful play calling where you can see him take over and influence the offense, is the "keep it in front of us" defense.

That shite is how Tennessee broke 40 points last year with less than 15 minutes of possession. To stop Hooker, you must play tight at the DBs and pressure his arse, then run him down.

Sit back ? He'll pick you apart all damn day.

Tennessee is a big play offense. You don’t want 1 on 1 situations. They’d do best to sit back in a soft zone and rush 3 and hope you can stop the run or they mess up.
