What a gut punch man

I have a friend who cautiously buys in every year, usually just before the tragedy strikes.

I've been pessimistic enough (after decades) to not fully believe in it until I see it happen.

For fans of Alabama football, there is nothing quite like the counterbalance of being an Alabama basketball fan.

But man, what a season. This team still brought us a lot of joy. Good days are ahead.

BTW, I don't think I've said it yet this season, but thank you again to Chadaristic, Alabama_Fan, SoG, and everyone who participated to bring so much content here for us to enjoy.

I know it's a lot of work, and it's appreciated.

It didn't finish like we wanted, but this continues to be one of my favorite threads on this whole site, and it wouldn't be the same without all of you guys.

No voodoo to our seasonal shooting decline late in the year. Nate continues to push the pace and we are always among the top teams in Kenpom in that category. And despite the talk of all our depth, Oats seldom goes beyond about 8 deep for any significant length of time. And even that metric is probably distorted by Q being a quasi-starter with the amount of minutes he gets coming off the bench. It’s simply a matter of tired legs. Hard to avoid with the grind that the conference schedule is. You can’t take a night off or a Vanderbilt or South Carolina will punch your ticket. I don’t have an answer, but the problem is pretty obvious and pervasive. Either starters are going to have to get more rest late in the season, or Nate is going to have to change his pace/philosophy or find a higher percentage strategy for late season/tournament games.

Have you noticed that the shooting seems to get even worse in the tournament when the games are closer together? Iona almost beat us 2 years ago because we couldn’t hit water from a boat. This year it was SDSU. We’re just running out of gas, plain and simple.
