Reports of former head coach and athletic director Vince Dooley being hospitalized after a mild case of COVID-19 initially came out on Saturday, just before kickoff of the Georgia-Auburn game.
The University of Georgia shared some positive news as the school announced that Dooley has returned home.
Dooley himself shared a statement that he will be ready to go for his usual book signing session ahead of Saturday’s game.
“I’m grateful for all the cards, text messages, emails, and calls as well as the prayers and concerns,” Dooley said. “But I’m ready to go Saturday.”
Dooley, 90, is Georgia’s all-time wins leader, having coached the Georgia football program from 1964 through the 1988 season. He also served as the school’s athletic director from 1979 through 2004.

That's great news - he's always been a class act.

He called me on the phone once (work related) in the late 90's when he was AD. What doesn't come across on TV does come across in person, he's "the smartest guy in the room" type, but an absolutely kind, thoughtful, generous person who treats everyone equal from the head coach to the janitor, not arrogant at all, always gracious. He almost ran for governor and would have won in a landslide but back then, having skeletons in the closet was a pretty big deal, unlike today. I'm glad to see that pic of him wearing the Run Herschel Run sticker.
You'll never meet someone who's met Dooley and walked away thinking "frick that guy, he's a dick".

I got an email at work with the subject "Vince Dooley" and my heart nearly stopped. I feared the worst. Fortunately, it's all good news. Glad to hear Vince is on the mend.
