Their identity revolves around their belief that they are somehow better than everyone else.
"This shows Texas's talent, Texas is back" etc. are bad takes. That kind of thinking applies to normal programs.
Texas isn't normal. The superiority complex is pathological. They thump their chest after losing a close game to Alabama or beating the worst Oklahoma team in years, and return to their rightful place as perennial underachievers. See losing to Texas Tech and the state of Kansas.

I’ve lived in Texas most of my life, and this is a true statement when applied to aggy. For years, ag fans would taunt Texas fans with statements like “at least WE beat OU”, completely ignoring the fact that aTm dropped another one to the Horns that same year.

We dropped a couple games with a very inconsistent unhealthy back up QB. By a combined four points. Reality is Texas would beat A&M and any other team in the West with Quinn at QB. Legitimate top 10 team.
