Ringing a bell will be a 15 yard penalty.

Actually Texas visited State in 1991 and left with a loss. It was probably because of the cowbells. Yep the cowbells beat the Longhorns that day.
When I was growing up in the 60’s/70’s our success at State was few and far between. 1963/1974 were the only two good seasons over about 15 year span.
But an odd thing happened. When we had a winning team, all the sudden the other schools blamed the cowbells for losing. We lost because of the cowbells.
In 1974, whiny Shug Jordan basically cried after the Auburn-State because the cowbells were too loud. Now mind you, Auburn won the game but almost blew a 24-0 lead in the fourth quarter and hung on to win 24-20.
The following spring (1975) he led the charge to ban the cowbells which passed 9-1. That lasted until 2010 when they passed the new policy about cowbells with the protocols in place now. By which 95+% State fans adhere to. You have a few hare brain students but they are few and far between.
Cowbells are here to stay even if the Longhorns whine about them as well.
