I know you are just wanting to be funny man and that's cool!
Two things kept Aubie from Natty that year.
They started at 17 where USC and Oklahoma were 1 & 2.
The second was lack of competitive with OOC opponents.
To say Auburn refused to play challenging opponents is ignorance. Schedules are made out years in advance. The rest of the conference played cup cakes as well.
Also the same thing happened to LSU in 2003 did it not?

Based on past history one or two of them would claim it as Natty, print it in their program and fly a flag. Credit to Aubie for not claiming it!

After a few decades of irrelevancy the Barners will start claiming it

So AU matches Bama's achievement during that period. A period considered the greatest in Bama's history and maybe the best in CF History.
Alabama has 7 national championships over that period (last 30 years) and 10 SEC championships vs AU with 1 NC and 3 SEC championships.
To your specific point Alabama has 7 undefeated regular seasons, AU has 3. Bama has 3 undefeated seasons, including the post season, vs AU with 2.
Also, Alabama has 20 10 win seasons vs AU with 6.
To say AU has matched Alabama over the past 30 years is a joke.
Over the past 14 years (the other era to which you referred), which barely trumps 1961-1981 (6 NCs, 13 SECCs), Alabama's dominance is even greater.
NC: Alabama 6, AU 1
SEC C: Bama 8, AU 2
Undefeated reg seasons: Bama 5, AU 1
Undefeated seasons including post season: Bama 2, AU 1
10 win seasons: Bama 14 in a row and counting, AU 3
Are you so stupid as to say that AU has matched Alabama in either (last 30 years, last 15 years) era or in any category ? Well in the last 15 years, AU has had 4, about to be 5 HCs, Alabama 1.

Only because y'all tried in 2014 and and got clowned on nationally.

I must’ve missed Auburn claiming anything in 2014

Auburn should have an easy time of it this weekend. But once they get back to the top tier of their schedule, it could get rough.
