They finished #5 in 1956 and won the SWC that season. I think Bryant was the last one to have them ranked #1 in the regular season as well. He did a decent job there after that 1-9 season in 1954.

True to his word it would be almost 40 years before UT played at State. They played a few times in Menphis over the years but that was it.
