I may have hoped he would just because I would have been amused by A&M fans acting like Haynes King was the only piece missing from being a championship caliber team last year, but I wouldn't say I ever expected Max to start.
I do still think it's unlikely that Haynes King lives up to the hype that they've place upon him though. Especially given all that we've actually seen (2021 stats and spring game)

I am very skeptical of King's decision making. It has been pretty bad in the little we have seen him play thus far.
