Genuinely honest question - since Saban’s run, they go in to pretty much every season with an expectation of a natty, and if you don’t get it it’s a total failure. There is basically no room for pleasant surprises in your team. To me it almost makes the seasons less fun.

It's hard to say. Yes, anything less than a natty tends to be disappointing. No one EXPECTED a natty last year...but then we got close enough for it to sting.

It also diminshes the "smaller" accomplishments. The 1999 SEC championship was HUGE back in the day, as was beating Florida in the swampt that same year. Or beating Auburn in 1990. Now it's all just expected.

Still, I woudln't trade it with anyone. Who would?

Yes it's still very fun. And no I don't like close games. That's why 2020 was so fun.

It always also carries with it the foreboding of wondering when it will all come to an end, what life after Saban will be like, and will our fanbase meltdown?
