LSU is obviously one of the schools where it is possible to build a program that contends for national titles year in and year out. They have done it. A&M has not. And yet Jimbo obviously thinks it is happening at A&M, or he never would have refused a raise from LSU to stay at A&M.
The new fly in the ointment to your Jimbo hypothesis is conference expansion with UT and OU joining the SEC. Prior to this I believe the premium talent in Texas was more inclined to go to aTm, LSU, Ark, and even Bama to play in SEC rather than the failing B12. Now UT and OU will recoup some of that recruiting pie and put pressure on us to make up the difference by other locales.
Moral of the story is Jimbo gonna have to win big and often or at least stay ahead of UT to get the high dollar Texas recruits...

This is a very important year for A&M. They went in big on last year’s recruiting class and the pressure will be insane on those players and coaches to win now.
