I think you're arguing semantics at this point.

A player missing--for any reason--will typically be looked at as a reason for a loss if it is suspected that his involvement would likely have led to production for the team. If the star QB quits the team and their teammates feel let down that the quitter didn't stick around to help, then according to you, the quitter isn't really missed because only those who are on the team can be missed. Let's forget about the team harmony that is disrupted or the need for a backup to try to make up for that lack of production.

If Metchie and Williams were kicked off the team immediately following the SECCG, you don't think they would be considered "missed" by their team?

Then Bama and other teams were missing all of the players that went into the draft, Smith/Waddle/Surtain as they all could have returned but all weren't on the team by the choice they made, same as Anderson.
