I think it's fair to say it was his best coaching job. And maybe the guys they had stepping up next weren't as capable as they are used to.
It was pretty obvious that he reacted to close wins abnormally compared to the past. Whether that was a realization that the kids weren't mature enough yet to just waylay teams on a weekly basis or just the softer Saban we've heard about it (or maybe both) I don't know.
I just don't get the "we had to replace a lot of starters, so it was kind of a rebuild".
I mean, no one in Athens is looking at this year as a rebuild that I'm aware of. We had four go early and a huge amount of seniors leave.

I mean what? That’s the exact definition of a rebuild.

There are a ton of variables and I don't know bama's team well enough.
Someone said to look at the 2019 class of Alabama (one of the all time high ranked classes) and see all of the perceived misses.
Is that Saban's best coaching job in 2021 (coaching em up?).
Or is it doing the best with what he has 3 seasons later?
I can acknowledge that I'm Bama ignorant. But when the goat is making excuses to the media... that I can pick up on and notice. It isn't the traditional Saban where everything is calculated to helping his team get better. Excuses from the guy who runs Alabama football like an authoritarian. I'm not used to it. Neither should Bama and LSU fans who see and hear him all the time.
