re: NIL or Transfer Portal.. Which one is worse for college football??

Transfer portal is way worse in my opinion. It’s important for these kids to develop and it’s so much more enjoyable as a fan to have a recruiting class to get excited about and watch them grow. Now recruiting doesn’t mean so much as half of them leave in two years. Plus the transfer portal allows programs like Alabama to never pay for their recruiting misses. If they have a deficiency they just go get the top transfer at that position.

NIL has its downsides but I’m hopeful over time the spending tightens up. People won’t be so willing to spend thousands of dollars on a kid that isn’t a sure thing.
