Sure, but even before we went to a set schedule in 1992, LSU barely played Tennessee or Georgia. They'd play H&Hs then go 6 years without playing at all, sometime shorter sometimes longer. LSU and UGA actually went 25 years without playing each other at one point from 1953-1978
Yep, a lot of people would be shocked at home little some current division teams played.
- Alabama and Ole Miss didn't play every year
- Alabama didn't play Kentucky from 1948-1971, only played them 4 times from 1948-1987. 4 times in 40 years while in the same 10-12 team league.
- Alabama played Florida 4 straight years from 1970-1973 and only 4 other times from 1952-1985.
- Georgia and Tennessee weren't rivals at all. They played 6 times from 1970 to 1990.
- Auburn had great rivalries with Florida and Tennessee. They rarely played LSU (8 games from 1943 to 1990).
- Auburn and Ole Miss had only played a total of 12 games through 1983
I'm sure everyone else has their own other SEC teams that were basically OOC teams pre-1992 as well.
Alabama played Penn State more often in the 70s and 80s than half the SEC.

Yep, our most played games have been:
1. State 115
2. Ole Miss 110
3. Alabama 86
4. Florida 68
Those are the only 4 teams we have played every year since 1971. Florida would have gone back to 1953, but LSU didn't play them from 1968-1970 for some reason. LSU has played Alabama every year since 1951. And obviously Ole Miss and State since always
*We've also played Tulane 98 times but stopped playing them annually in 1994.

The two teams then played 6 times over the next 8 years, but only 8 more times in the next 28.
Everyone here gives AU grief over it's record vs Vandy, not realizing that we played them 23 times back when they were the winningest team in the SEC (17 more victories than 2nd place Bama from 1890-1955) but have played them only 16 times in the 66 years since, when they had the fewest wins of any P5 team.
That said, not playing UGa every year would be just another nail in the CFB coffin for me. I don't care how much they've owned us in recent years (well, I do care, but... )
Do away with divisions and go 3-6. Insist that the schools without a permanent OOC P5 opponent find one right away so that the four schools that do have them don't suffer any scheduling disadvantage.
