I'm just confused why this keeps getting pointed out as LSU being told what to do by the SEC when it had nothing to do with the league?

Because it did have to do with the league….

Did lsu choose to play some non night games on its own before the SEC CBS contract? Yes

However, once the original CBS contract was signed lsu lost the right to choose. And it pissed lsu off, and nobody gave a frick about it besides lsu fans. Finally, around 2015, they amended the contract for LSU and protected our night games to a certain extent
