He also lost to UL Monroe and that 2008 team had 5* talent. He's a recruiter. If he was as good at coaching as you want to advertise then all these years he's had the most talent no one would have every touch any of his teams.

There were four five star athletes on that 2008 squad for Alabama: Julio Jones, Andre Smith, B.J. Scott, and Tyler Love.

Andre Smith was recruited to Alabama by Shula in 2006, B.J. Scott barely played while at Alabama, and Tyler Love might just be the biggest five star bust in the history of recruiting rankings. Of the three five stars brought in by Saban in that initial class, only Julio Jones made an impact in 2008 and his starting QB was named John Parker Wilson.
