I've seen some chatter on other sites about this going down sooner than later... anyone catching wind of this as well? Sounds improbable, but who knows

I have heard that he might step down before the Iron Bowl.

What? Has there been wind of a $6mm withdrawal from Colonial Bank or something?

Seriously, if Tubbs is given the boot after this year it HAS to have something to do with personal issues between he and the higher ups at AU. There is no way one bad season merits his dismissal. Two bad seasons is one issue, one...just can't see them pulling the trigger like that.
How many Iron Bowls has AU won in a row now? Six or something in that neighborhood? How in the hell do you fire a coach that has won you six straight against your most hated rival?

I agree. I think it would be a mistake if AU got rid of him this year. Look at his whole body of work his past 10 years at AU, not just this season. ….no matter how bad things get for the rest of the season for Auburn football, IMO he deserves a chance to correct things in 2009 before he is given the “boot”

What's new? Every season we hear Tubby is leaving Auburn.

By the way, and this is just my opinion, if Bama is 4-2 right now, with losses to Clemson and Georgia, none of this is being discussed.

I agree, but no one else here will.

I completely agree with this. I have already said on this site before that I think the whole situation at AU is merely a knee-jerk reaction to the Saban effect at Bama.

I don't subscribe to that thinking. It doesn't help that we are undefeated for sure.
But.....
We won 4 games....TOTAL......in 2003 and they still fired him.

You're probably right. He would have at least waited to the end of the season to fire Franklin as his scape goat.

If Tubbs is not the coach at Auburn next year, it'll be because he steps down.

I agree that Alabama's current success is contributing to this....but if Bama had 2-3 losses right now, trust me it would still be discussed and the heat would be on Tubby…
This team was picked by many in the preseason to be in the SECCG....now this team barely squeaked out 2 SEC wins against Miss State and Tennessee and is coming off back to back conference losses to VANDERBILT & Arkansas....and has absolutely no offensive production to speak of thus far…....

Tubs isn't going anywhere. All this talk is to get him a new contract. He will bring in someone like Kiffin and get it turned around.

Could he pull a Nutt and move to Tenn, and leave AU in shambles?
My other thought on this, is that if he beats Bama, he would be welcomed back, and any leaving would definitely be his choice.

I like the "Tubbs going to step down" talk, gives future recruits something to think about.
