You know, businesses that build and make home offices

there are plenty of offices at the purpose built studios that populate the state (Second Line and Celtic are a few that come to mind).

Not to mention the prop houses, vehicle lots, caterers, post production houses. There are plenty of examples of rooted film support that has been in place for well over a decade.

Louisiana has a modest, capped incentive ... so hardly a bad deal for the state really. I'm sure it's pennies on the dollar for what the big oil and chemical companies get.

Wim Wenders Perfect Days
A Prayer Before Dawn (true story about a brit stuck in thai prison)
How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies (great thai film)

some recent watches that come to mind.

I have to say, those bogan boneyards can still get after it. Good energy, lighting and the hits / Iron City lights were flowing amongst the frizzy haired attendees.

Glad I checked it out.
Studios and agencies are cooling on Atlanta big time ...... shot out locations, teamsters issues and show jumping/rate gouging has hurt that scene. The unlimited cap and structured crew base/services will still send work there, but a serious fatigue has set in about the city.
This business has shifted in many ways and is slower for sure than say, immediate post pandemic. But hardly dried up. I am working in Pittsburgh and there are four projects happening here. LA is picking up and of course, the international markets.

NJ is busy, as is New England relatively. New Mexico is steady ... Atlanta is slow for them, but has some things going. NOLA does seem slow, but a big movie is heading to BR soon.

Sorry libs. Free tax dollars ended. Learn to weld and get a real job.

do you know how many welders, plasterers and carpenters work in film production? plenty and they are not "libs". And make $50 an hour or more, so that feels like a real job.
Heydey was clearly G. Prejean from 91-2000ish. So many national acts of note that have been mentioned, but also Public Enemy, No Doubt, Wilco, Tori Amos, Danzig, S. Crow .. a diverse mix for sure ... including lots of smartly planned showcases with DMB, 311 etc. If memory serves, they were free. KLSU even promoted and "sponsored" shows. I don't recall Beck performing, but there is a lot i didn't retain.

Just a different time. A real music community alongside the Art Bar, Bayou, Chelseas and even Murphy's.

The guy in the middle was terrible really with bad taste and uncharismatic stiffness. If the Chimes team really wanted it back, they could hire someone and make a go of it.
sadly, I'm dating myself but did see them in 91 or 92 at the old New Orleans Music Hall. Can't recall the opener, but it was a name.

Worth seeing once, maybe twice in a lifetime. Theatrics of the highest order.
Please explain all the mental illness these people have, who by the way have more money, sex, fame and style than you. And are having fun for charity.

Please tell us more of your brilliant insight
Gary Oldman in True Romance was short and strong

Paladar 511 would be a good candidate

Just bought a $55 ticket in what seems to be the lower endzone ... pretty decent seat. Will report back.

good call. No need to overthink it.
I've walked that far for PIrates games and that is a sure fire disappointment.

re: Best and Worst Airports in US

LAX is a pain at times to get in and out of, but hardly one of the worst. Especially terminal 3 and the new Delta One Lounge.

Minneapolis is a pretty nice airport I recently pass through. Same with SLC.
Pittsburgh's airport is pretty spare. And a tad depressing.

AC/DC these days

Has anyone caught their latest tour? I'm working in Pittsburgh and they are playing 15 minutes away on foot. I'm not a die hard, but would be interested in grabbing a single and checking them out.

Curious about any TD input or feedback.
Went this rainy weekend primarily from the TD board buzz. I thought the opening scene was perfect and a great set up. The film is the most unflinching look at war that I have seen on film. Tense, brutal and funny at times.

The props, gunfire, art direction and of course the sound were all seamless. That is a very hard movie to make and they did a great job.
the lead from Rebel Ridge would be a good fit for Tubbs.
India is not Southeast Asia .... but point made.
They clearly matched what the real look is, but using printed marble with a repeat pattern is weak. Especially with the best movie painters in the world in your backyard. Maybe it was a budget thing, but the movie did not look good at all to me.
