2007 Kansas was no joke. Mangino had that team running on all cylinders. The loss to Missouri was the only thing that kept them out of the National title game.

Missouri had the 1960 national title locked up with a win over Kansas, but a loss happened momentarily. KU cheated with a known ineligible player. Unfortunately the timing was too late. The overturn loss to win happened well after the final polls.
Missouri had to win the 2007 Big XII CCG to seal their spot in the national title game. Missouri went in as the #1 team in the BCS.
2013 SECCG served as a de-facto semifinal game for the BCSNCG. Had Missouri won, they were in.
Missouri has been more than relevant in football. They’ve contended for three national titles.
