It’s behind a paywall but here’s the reasoning

quote:

The buzz surrounding the No. 1 pick and Walker has been building to the point that I'm buying it. The Jaguars need a powerful pass-rusher to run opposite the speedy Josh Allen, and Walker fits that bill. He likely reminds general manager Trent Baalke of former 49ers star Aldon Smith, whom Baalke drafted when he was in San Francisco. Jacksonville would bypass the top-ranked player in the class (Aidan Hutchinson) for the upside of Walker.

The draft is already about to be massive recruiting victory for UGA/Kirby, but Travon going #1 will be icing on the cake. I'm bricked up right now.

I don't care one bit about the NFL for its own sake, but I still appreciate that it is a factor for UGA, so I'm excited for our draft prospects.

It never hurts to have the #1 overall pick, and several 1st rounders.

Rumors here in Jax are that the GM loves Travon and Shad Khan loves Hutchinson. Shad Khan must not have watched the Orange Bowl.

I can't recall ever being more excited for the draft. As if winning the natty wasn't enough, this is going to be a massive flashing billbaord to all of america of what can happen if you come here. And Travon, I mean who could've seen that? Even with us as fans watching him every single week, I doubt there were many even in November that would have even predicted him first round. And now to potentially go #1 overall. insane.

I think November was actually when his buzz was really picking up. Flashing in coverage against Florida. Getting to the QB against UF and Mizzou in limited reps.

The games against Michigan and Bama obviously sealed the gamefilm needed for the grade.
But film on his "variety" was put together by November.

Last time I got this excited was to see where Gurley ended up, because we were all excited to have guaranteed 1st round talent hitting the draft.

Boy have the times changed.. I think 5 to 6 Dawgs going in the 1st isn't too far fetched, 4 at a min.

To be fair, you can't base a player's career or where you're taking them off of one game.

I am also excited for the city of Thomaston/Upson County. I have a few friends who live there, including my stepsister and her husband. To have potentially the #1 NFL Draft pick come from that town, or any town for that matter, is a huge deal
