CFP meetings this week. Without expansion, one stakeholder observed, "I wish Alabama best of luck in the next four championship games."
As we all know, if only #5 Notre Dame, #6 Ohio State, #7 Baylor and #8 Ole Miss had been in the playoff last year, then Alabama would finally have been stopped!
Saban appearances in the National Title Game pre-playoff
3 out of 7
Saban appearances in the National Title Game Playoff
6 out of 8
The solution, clearly, is to expand the playoff and make sure Alabama is in the title game.........100% of the time?

For every 2015 Ohio State or 2019 Bama that has missed the playoffs despite probably being a top-4 team, there are a bunch of 10-2 teams that #1 Bama would have smoked in the Round of 8. Being perfectly honest, very few playoffs have had 4 teams that all looked like they belonged
That being said, a hypothetical Round of 12 with the top 4 having byes would be a lot of fun. But in the same way that 7 v. 10 and 8 v. 9 games are a lot of fun in the NCAAT
Bama's 8 Team Playoff Opponents
2014: 10-2 Michigan State
2015: 11-1 Ohio State (ok this one is a banger)
2016: 10-3 Wisconsin. (pretty much the Washington semi-final)
2017: 11-2 Ohio State (I'll give Ohio State the benefit of the doubt but this team got taken to the woodshed by Iowa 55-24)
2018: 13-0 UCF. (good on paper but we probably spank that arse)
2020: 9-0 Cincy (good on paper but that would have been an arse kicking)
2021: 11-2 Oklahoma State
So maaaaaybe a loss in one of the Ohio State games and a bunch of snoozers

Not sure what meeting this was said in but I hope the SEC representative (Sankey or Keenum probably) extended our sincere thanks for the well wishes.

They think expanding the playoffs - all but guaranteeing we'll be involved for the foreseeable future - is the way to keep us out? Seems legit.

They're trying to make the issue about "fairness" when all it is is about money. If they were honest, I could at least respect that.
