It’s all speculative but I doubt the NCAA will show any mercy for terminating WW at this late date. It’s entirely possible that had Woodward fired Wade early on, say when Wade initially refused to meet with the administration, the NCAA would have taken the discharge into consideration.

Instead, Woodward chose to restructure the contract and before you know it 2-3 years went by with no impact on recruiting or wins and losses. At this point, LSU should look for a minimum of a two year post season ban and whatever scholarship losses the NCAA deeme appropriate. Anything less will be a pleasant surprise imo.

True, but Woodward wasn't the AD when Wade refused to meet with the administration, Joe Alleva was. If he had fired Will Wade then (and apparently he wanted to, and had cause to do so), LSU would have avoided this mess.

I think it was all predetermined (penalties) and a deal was worked out behind the scenes beforehand.

Basketball was sacrificed to protect the football program, I don’t think Kelly comes here unless he is assured otherwise.

This, considering Woodward’s professional and personal relationship with Emmert.
