Whatever the basketball sanctions are, and they are likely to be significant, the problem is that LSU basketball will lose current recruits to decommitment and some current players to the portal.

Simply having the unknown sanctions hanging over the program's head will wreak havoc. The sooner the punishment is announced, the sooner the road to recovery takes place. Until then, it will be a bumpy ride.

As far as football goes, the NCAA should, and likely will, take into consideration the self-imposed penalties. The problem here, however, is that LSU was unsuccessful in getting the two programs severed and thus both have been proclaimed guilty of loss of institutional control. It would not be surprising, therefore, to see an additional one year bowl ban especially since the self-imposed one year ban came in the midst of a losing season during the Covid year.

LSU took a bowl ban in a year they would have made a bowl. They aren’t getting another year bowl ban. Most likely if anything is added it would be a fine. But not much else.
