I like LSU, I have friends and distant relatives in the BR area; so this hurts me more than the casual poster.

What a lot are missing is the school administration still in place has much of the responsibility. They either knew and turned a deaf-ear not wanting to know what was going on or are so incompetent they were clueless about what was happening. As with Truman, the president of LSU has the responsibility of the program on his shoulders—“the buck stops here”, as Truman said. The administration needs firing just as much as Wade.

I’m not optimistic about what is going to happen. NCAA having turned it over to a new agency to adjudicate does not bode well for LSU. Unlike, NCAA, the new agency’s decisions are final, no appeal permitted. My fear is they are going to make an example of LSU that says the NCAA is back and in business. I figure LSU will get hammered in light of the fact that this continued up through at least 2020 even though it was known earlier what was going on (The Scheme” on HBO). Lack of Institutional Control charge should be a clue things aren’t going to go well since it applied to multiple athletic programs and is an indictment of the LSU administration itself.

I just don’t get the continued denial of some of the LSU posters on here. Either they know but are still are in denial hoping the NCAA will not see the worst or they think they will get away with what has gone on in the football and basketball program, which isn’t going to happen. They are the true melts when the decision comes down.

I think the football issues are a bit overblown in terms of what is connected to LSU. Coach and AD from the Vadal Alexander/OLOL saga have been let go. That was almost 10 years ago. Maybe the program vacates some wins from the Les era.

Orgeron had an impermissible visit with a recruit. The Title IX stuff is bad, and it has since been addressed (although there’s a couple more heads that need to roll). I’m not sure what kind of football sanctions are appropriate for that sort of issue. I think it’s why we saw some issues with the Penn State situation. They vacated some of JoePa’s wins, then reinstated them some years later. The Sandusky stuff, as disturbing as it was, didn’t really pertain to players on the field.

Pretty much every high level administrator who was there when all this went down is not at LSU anymore… New AD in 2019 and new President in 2021. Multiple changes with other administrators have followed as well.
