Why is it always blue counties that take forever to report their results??? Seems they are trying to figure out how many votes they need.
It's almost as if urban areas have far more precincts and votes to count than rural areas.

now in 2022 Auburn suddenly tries to make it a thing attached to their program?
FWIW, Auburn was doing it before LSU started a few years ago.

What a lot are missing is the school administration still in place has much of the responsibility. They either knew and turned a deaf-ear not wanting to know what was going on or are so incompetent they were clueless about what was happening. As with Truman, the president of LSU has the responsibility of the program on his shoulders—“the buck stops here”, as Truman said. The administration needs firing just as much as Wade.
Pretty much every high level administrator who was there when all this went down is not at LSU anymore… New AD in 2019 and new President in 2021. Multiple changes with other administrators have followed as well.

What he’s researched in his career may or may not influence him and generally may or may not even be all that relevant when looking at the actual job or running a complex university system.
This. An academic's research interests tell little to nothing about their governance strategies and capabilities to run a multi-institutional, statewide higher education and research system which is why this whole interview process has not focused on that. If his publication record was on quantum physics or some other topic this board didn't deem controversial and his answers during his interviews were word-for-word the exact same, many of you setting your hair on fire over him being a finalist would be perfectly fine with his credentials and candidacy for this position.

re: Question for CFB fans who’ve visited Kyle Field
Posted by PythagoreanTiger on 5/3/20 at 2:31 pm
Generally speaking, the stadiums and game day experiences that have national reputations as the cream of the crop have them for a reason. I've found my experiences pretty much were consistent with expectations going into them based on that.
That said, Kyle Field aligned with the nice stadium, cult atmosphere I was expecting from its reputation. Outside of that? It was just meh compared to several other SEC schools.

Tallest SEC Stadium
Posted by PythagoreanTiger on 5/2/20 at 9:12 pm
I was having a conversation with a neighbor about our experiences at different SEC stadiums, and part of that conversation involved which ones seemed the tallest. This led to trying to find stadium heights and we couldn't find much on Google.
Crowd sourcing to see if any of you know. What stadiums are the tallest? Preferably height of the last row of the stadium, not including extra height added by walls or lights.

There needs to be a nationwide Limitation of Liability statute to accommodate all the businesses universities reopening. That's not to say businesses can be reckless or grossly negligent, but there has to be some limitation of lawsuits or getting back open will be difficult.
Or, have each family of any student returning to campus, sign a waiver of liability form, acknowledging they are aware of the risks.
This is a good idea and would at least help increase options for reopening.

Those students not willing to sign could have the option of on line study.
This is virtually impossible from a course scheduling, faculty/resources, and instructional delivery standpoint.

Whats the point of having all these social distancing rules if all the kids are going to be in the dorms anyways.
Getting students into classroom and maintaining social distancing by reducing class sizes is one thing, but this is a major piece of the puzzle --especially at large universities that have a huge contingent of non-local students.
Universities will not be keen to open housing as usual unless they can ensure they're putting every measure in place to protect students and avoid potential lawsuits. And if they can't figure out a feasible way to do that, it's hard to require students to come back for in-person classes when viable housing options are limited or nonexistent. Many students may opt to not come back in that scenario. On the other hand, many students may opt out of another semester of fully online instruction.
So much of this feels like a damned-if-you-do, damned-if-you-don't proposition. I don't envy the people who have to make these decisions.
