Doesnt seem possible to make the overall program worse than it was but....
Cant imagine anyone else hiring him.
We should do a spread to see who gets closest to the termination time.
I would walk up and fire him the moment the last game concludes.

I know... Just annoying how these contracts are done.
He didnt seem in high deman and was the fall back when Thad backed out.

He'll be gone in a week.
Then we can go get Sean Miller.

If guys don't want to play for him, it does not matter how good or how bad a coach he is. When the whole team left after last year that said a lot.
I wonder if Georgia basketball is not a lost cause from which there is no recovery.

This is silly. It's a sport where 5 guys play at a time, and 7-10 play substantial minutes... Combining the relatively few numbers of high caliber players that it takes to put a winning product on the floor along with the transfer portal and "point of no recovery" is just not a thing in basketball... We do have to build on a foundation of essentially zero (or negative) perception... so it's not an easy job, but a good recruiter who can work with the talent that he has, but build for future can win here just as easily as Pearl has done at Auburn... It just takes the right hire PLUS commitment from the university at all levels, just like we've approached football. Facilities, supporting staff, NIL/Branding, etc...

anybody have any good candidates in mind for a replacement?
Havent seen that many people throwing it around on this board at least, but one name i keep coming back to, and you guys may not remember him, but he was at Arizona and did really well there. Couple of early exits from the tournament, but a great recruiter and younger guy that might just be who we need. Lets see if any one can recognize this name, like i said, I havent seen ANYONE on this board mention him....Sean Miller.
If youre not familiar, which you probably arent, google him. I think he would work out well. Rumor has it that he wanted to come here before we hired Crean too. That is from one of my own sources, not many people know that.

I have no reason to doubt you since I don't know you but I've only heard that in 2 places; SteelersBravesDawgs on here has mentioned it multiple times in the last 2 weeks, and now you saying it here. Is there anything to support that just out of curiosity? My memory is fading a bit with age but I thought our search was pretty much narrowed in on Thad and Crean from the jump, I don't recall ever really hearing Millers name. And Miller is a guy with a resume that I imagine would have at least gotten an interview if he actually did have interest.

I have mentioned him but I give you credit for mentioning him first.
That's who I want.

You've mentioned a few times that miller was interested in the job last go around. Is k9 you source?
Posted on 2/28/22 at 4:44 pm to WG_Dawg
Not so much my source but he did mention him as a candidate before I did so he gets the credit. I had thought of him but didn't put it down in print before he did.
But Miller absolutely needs to be Josh's #1 target. Not Jonas and definitely not Pitino.

Also Miller is a fellow Western Pennsylvanian. From Ellwood City just outside New Castle. Another checkmark in my book.

Information discovered during an internal review by UGA Athletics into the physical altercation between basketball assistants Wade Mason and Brian Fish has lead to the creation of a new inquiry into the culture of the Georgia men’s basketball program under head coach Tom Crean.
The new review will examine all aspects of the program, and sources could not provide an expected timetable for its conclusion.
The altercation between Mason and Fish was first reported by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and occurred at halftime of Georgia’s 85-64 loss to LSU in Baton Rouge on February 16th. On February 19th the university acknowledged the incident between Wade and Fish. In a statement released in response to reports by this website and other outlets, UGA Athletics said the incident was, “reported properly as required by university policies and is under review,”
Just hours later, Crean’s team took to the floor for an 85-68 loss to Ole Miss. Following his postgame press conference, Crean was unknowingly overheard speaking to an athletic department employee in remarks first published by Dawgs247.
In those remarks Crean speculated that graduate assistant Rashaan Surles was responsible for helping to feed the media negative information about the UGA basketball program.
In those same remarks Crean was also critical of Senior PG Aaron Cook. Cook has remained in the starting lineup since that time and his 156 assists this year are the 5th most by a UGA player in a single season.
Crean is in his 4th season at the helm of the Georgia program and his team is 6-23 overall with a 1-15 record in conference play. The Bulldogs have regular season games remaining against Tennessee and Missouri before starting play in the SEC Tournament in Tampa on March 9th.

Looks to me like Crean intentionally tanked the entire season, if you can play the #1 team within 2 points, he obviously tanked this team.
To hell with that scumbag.

I was trying to troll you for spamming every thread with "Sean Miller"
Obviously didn't work.

Georgia's players wouldn't win the GHSA tournament. Bad skills, bad decisions, bad players. Granted, Crean is responsible for recruiting but what he puts on the floor each night is pitiful.
