Simple math.

If A&M plays 30 homes, averages 5k a game, and each ticket costs $15. That’s 2.25 M. This is before TV, donations, ads, concessions, suites, clubs, etc. Someone like Lsu, Arkansas, etc would top that. I’d guess a dozen or so schools make revenue that crushes the hockey average. If you took the revenue from the top 60 baseball programs, I’d guess it’d be similar.

Now do if they turn a profit:break even is another story. You factor in baseball only has an expense of 11.7 schollies. I believe hockey is 18. Idk which is more money to maintain facility wise. I assume hockey shares with basketball, right? I also assume baseball coaches are more well paid, but it’s only 3 paid coaches.

If you call baseball a niche sport, then what the hell is hockey? A niche of a niche.

Those are averages. Only places with popular hockey teams still have a team. Most schools have a baseball team, so having hundreds of schools that don't make money is going to nosedive the average. Assuming government didn't play with the numbers for agenda purposes.
