at SMU W 16–0
Howard Payne* W 12–0

Harvard was undefeated and won the Rose bowl that year.

Notre Dame was undefeated also.

A&M was undefeated also.

So, I guess it's a TRI shared Natty in 1919.

So A&M has 2


But no way was aggie national champions in 1927, Hell, UGA Was named national champions by more services than A&M in 1927

Was A&M awarded a trophy of any kind immediately following that season?

If so, count it. If not...

It's not a matter of "claiming" titles, it's a matter of acknowledging trophies awarded.
