I’m starting to think that Rodney is our best option.

Pros:
- Popular with the GOB/Pat Dye contingent that still calls the shots
- History of solid recruiting
- Won’t ever be in the mix for other jobs
- Has sent dozens of guys to the NFL over his coaching career
- Reputation for being a players’ coach
- Modest contract demands

Cons:
- No head coaching experience
- Shady past
- Will be seen as tool of the PTBs

For me the pros far outweigh the cons.

I’ve completely given up on AU ever allowing a football HC or an AD to operate the program his/her own way without interference from the rich and powerful. Harsin and Greene were our only real attempt at that, and it’s pretty clear they were either undermined from the beginning or not really up to the task (likely a combination of both).

Might as well go “All In”. Worst case scenario, Garner is Matt Luke, and leaves us with a good foundation in 3-4 years so we can bring in someone who can really lead a program. Best case, he’s Sam Pittman, turns things around quickly and is loved by the AU faithful.

Either way, he’s probably the best we can expect.

That's why I like Dell McGee and his past isn't as shady as Garner.

Dell has never worked at AU - Garner has
What is shady about Garner other then he gets recruits
Garner has tons more experience and more coaching connections

I'm not against Dell I just think at this point Rodney is the right call if between the 2. And yall act like Coach G is some old dude. he's in his early 50's if I'm not mistaken
