For example, here is a list of "new targets" that are now starting to hear from us/are potentially being recruited:
3* CB Colton Hood (McDonough, GA) - Composite #72 CB
3* CB Misun Kelley (Central, SC) - Composite #83 CB
0* OC Kasen Carpenter (Allen, TX) - Unranked, currently committed to Tulsa
3* OT Elijah Philippe (Scranton, PA) - JUCO, Unranked on 247 but #6 overall and #1 JUCO OT on On3
3* LB Antwon Hayden (East Saint Louis, IL) - Composite #96 LB, currently committed to Illinois
3* LB Alex Sanford (Oxford, MS) - Composite #63 LB, currently committed to Arkansas
4* QB JJ Kohl (Ankeny, IA) - Composite #12 QB, currently committed to Iowa State
So saying that recruiting is going well because we have "all 4-stars committed" is highly disingenuous because our pool of targets after those 6 guys falls off a cliff completely. Even amongst those new potential targets listed above, 4 of them are currently committed elsewhere. We are way behind in 2023 recruiting because most targets are either committed to other schools, or they are heavily leaning to schools that don't include us.
Sure you can hope to flip 2-3 guys with a good season, but anything more than that is a pipedream.

I am not gonna disagree with anyone that says this staff is missing elite talent. But Gus and his guys would just not recruit a backup type guy if we missed on the original target. That's part of the reason we are where we are. I like the fact we are at least trying to take a prospect at OL. Harsin will need to prove he can develop and actually coach football before we are getting top HS talent.
ETA
TL;DR Gus was a disaster at managing a major CFB program. We have some major deficiencies that need to be addressed

Meta still out here doing the lords work. Between here and ON3 I've been loving all your post lately lol.
I've been using this word a lot lately, because the only way you think our recruiting isn't in the garbage can is if you're smoking rock.
AUCE You say Harsin has 2-3 more years to figure it out, but thats not true. He probably has to win 8 games to keep his job and the worse recruiting gets that number goes up. IF he wins those games he might get those years, but 7 wins or less and he's out.
