I think you're misunderstanding my point.
Obviously a stadium full of fans give the team "energy," obviously a team expected to lose isn't going to constantly sell out.
My point is that the high expectations of Alabama fans specifically isn't one of the things that causes Alabama to be better than everyone else.
Each fanbase of each elite college football programs has high expectations, LSU fans are constantly ridiculed on this site because they expect to win a title every year, doesn't mean they do.

During my time at the University of Alabama I talked to many an athlete playing for Alabama. They strived to be the best they could be because the fans expect them to be the best they could be. They also did it for their teammates, coaches and their families. If you think they were not listening, and reacting to what was being said, then you are mistaken.
