I think the sheer randomness of winning the NC is harder In Basketball bc you can get a 6 seed that has two strong guards and a couple defensive bigs and you can get hot shooting and win the thing. But the incremental cost of maintaining a winning football team is much higher. This is why I have mad respect for Auburn recognizing the opportunity in the SEC in basketball and making it happen.
