We live in Buford about a mile from the Mall of Georgia and my office is in Norcross/Peachtree Corners. It takes me about 35 min to get to work from my house.

Over the past year or year and a half our house value has gone up about 35%. Really tempting to sell but then we’d have to buy again. It’s crazy.

Alpharetta is somewhat in between Marietta and Norcross. It really depends on how much time you’d be spending at either office.

Good luck. You’re gonna need it.

I'm in Sugar Hill. We bought our house in January 2017 and it's estimate is now up 54% from when we bought. Like you said, be great to sell but what the hell are you going to get that doesn't eat it right back up.

Yep. Whatever you sell for, it'll get wiped away by everything else increasing too.

I'm in city of Decatur and we have a few older houses on our street. Our neighbor sold their 980 sq foot house last fall for $395k, so basically $400/sq ft.

We tore ours down and rebuilt about 6 years ago. That put ours so high I thought about selling, but we don't want to leave COD and everything else was just going to cost that much more. Basically any 4 bedroom house, if you can find one, is close to, if not over $1MM.

As for the OP, definitely try to live close to your office. Even with lots of people still working from home, traffic is a grind. I can't imagine what it will be like when more and more start going back, if they ever actually do.

I work in downtown, so my commute isn't bad, but I've been at home ever since covid hit. It used to still take me 30 or so minutes to get to the office some days.
