Perhaps he will focus on the DE/OLB position, and Davis will focus on the DT spot.

why?
Must be his vast experience. In no particular order, he's coached at Indiana, Tulane, Georgia Southern, UAB, Arkansas, Arky State, Central Missouri, Northern AZ, LA Outlaws, Northwestern St, Blinn C.C., and Carroll College...and never progressed beyond D-line coach.
Good grief.

Maybe this is a newer way of doing things but I would just think its easier to have one coach for the DL vs 2 coaches for the DL. Seems like there could be coaching differences

Yeah, it’s weird
Well that puts a nail in the “Hire a OC!” Coffin anyway

Still doesnt make much sense even doing that. Unless they plan on turning the DEs into stand up ends that can drop into coverage on plays then maybe I could see that.

Davis will coach DT and Peoples will coach EDGE

Confirmed or we just assuming? Because I still don't think Al Davis has officially accepted the job. It was announced that Drink gave him an offer to be the full time DLine coach, but never accepted to my knowledge.

Edge and DT are very different positions. We basically had 3 guys coaching the DBs the last 2 years. Not necessary if Wilks is going to be hands-on, which I believe he very much is as a DBs coach.
I would argue that there is a much bigger difference in technique, between an Edge/DT than there is between a CB/Safety. I for one love the move!

Peoples is a decent recruiter and Indiana had a awesome defense in 2020 and a horrible one last year.
The Indiana fans think that Baselek will help take them to that next level, because he played in the SEC.
