Both programs are gonna be pretty terrible next year, unfortunately. It may be enough to kill any little momentum they get by joining the SEC and relegate them to mid-tier status if they don't get their shite together quickly.

OU is breaking in a new HC with no HC experience and lost tons of transfers to the portal. Next season will certainly be a rebuild.

UT has Sark leading them and he's unstable at best, and their roster is full of soft players that don't have the "it" factor or winning mentality.

If they both come into the SEC after having a couple down years, it'll be tough to get the ball rolling again and gain any momentum in this league. They'll be relegated to a mid-tier status that's good for an upset here and there or make a run when the stars align once a decade.

We keep hearing that I'll guess we will see in a couple years. Looking forward to finally seeing us play in the SEC.

Both programs will be better prepared for SEC entry if that happens in 2024 vs next year.

Venebles' staff is experienced to the higher-tier of SEC play, especially on the defense and O-Line. Recruiting might not follow until they're in the SEC and get NIL figured out.

Sark just turned over 36 on the roster and before it's all done for '22, it'll probably hit 38 players. They'll be young and need time to develop, but at least he's weeding out the soft and those lacking leadership qualities. Sark also just made massive upgrades to the WR and RB coaches. Verdict is still out on the defense, where it seems PK might be too rigid to his system.

Texas getting NIL rolling from "outside-the-program" could be significant if they have it all figured out before the rest of the SEC does, or while the SEC ignores NIL over street agents, 7-on-7s and recruiting $bags.
