Now that I enjoyed today let's talk about our OL that is coming back. We had 7 SR that has started. How many of those will be back for the extra year? JR to be Jones most likely is a starter again next year. Who else will step up and who will we bring in from transfers. Come on Jones help me think we will have a better OL next year

I haven’t paid any attention to the OL other than the fact that they suck. But may addition by subtraction if they all go.

Colby Smith looking good. Possibility to move Wright back to OT.

I’m ready for all of those seniors to move on they have had a couple of years and they are still below average

I see your point about starting fresh, but we can’t gut the most cohesive and experienced group, despite how average they are as a unit.

Keep in mind we don’t even have a QB.

I’ve been a long time advocate that it can’t get much worse

I’m not actually sure who fricking returns or not. Because of the Covid year it’s not immediately clear to me who has eligibility left and the staff has some authority there too. They might have eligibility but Auburn doesn’t have to honor it. Manning is gone. I haven’t seen anything else though.

I’m not too worried about the interior with the exception of center. The tackles though… yikes. Just not much upside. I’m sorta looking forward to seeing more of Zierer now that he’s putting more time between his ACL. I think Coffey is serviceable there. We really need Colby Smith to work out. And it looks like Langlo is working mostly inside.

It’s obvious they will need transfer tackles. Coffey needs to be a swing OL

I’m trying to be posibarner here but tbh I could be talking out my arse. I imagine there are certainly differences between Gus’ schemes and Harsin’s/Bobo’s. So I’m hoping that with another year under their belt including a full offseason, the guys we already have should improve.

The OL now is involved in the offense at the LOS. OTs have assignments at the line to communicate what’s happening on the edge including what the safeties are doing and guards have to know where linebackers are.

Which obviously effects everything the QB does: Part of me wonders if that’s part of what Bo wants to transfer away from. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him transfer somewhere that the coaches read the defenses for him. Just my opinion.

But it’s different. And I’m not sure last year’s line had all of those assignments. Gus famously didn’t need OL to do that so there’s no telling what they settled on. I think this is part of why OL recruiting suffers still. It’s still very much a unit in transition

Nick Brahms and Anders just received. First Team Academic All-American Honors. 84 was the last time two from Auburn in the same year happened. Wonder what Brahms is going to do with his career. He is a pilot too

I thought Coffey was a senior, I wish he would take a covid year if he can.

If we get Mba and possibly Jones kid, I too would look at moving Wright back to the OL.

Zierer got some playing time and Jones quite a bit. That means 3 spots open.

As much as we bitched about the line, keep in mind the ones we have now were obviously not as good or they would have been playing.

As Jonesy and others have said. It will take us a couple of years of getting high school and portal folks to get some time for recruits to get some seasoning.

But you are very correct Jonesy, we gotta get a couple of tackles from the portal for this coming year.
