If Kirby was the UGA head coach of the 2006-2008 teams would there be any doubt he would’ve rolled with Joe Cox?

Does this mean you think we should fire Kirby?

No, it would have been Blake Barnes.

Nah...Joe Cox was from Charlotte. He didn't have that small town, Georgia good ol' boy vibe that Kirby favors in quarterbacks. He was a 3-star, though...so that would work to his advantage.

Would he have rolled with Baker Mayfield?

it's worth noting that the only raeson stafford got his first significant playing time (in game 2) is because JT3 was injured and out for the game. I'm sure that if stetson was starting and was out a few games JT would play.

Also worth noting that stafford sucked arse early on, and was benched during uab and for next week's start against ole miss. The current model of stetson bennett is light years better than any QB on the roster the first 3/4 of 2006.

I didn't realize that Baker Mayfield made a stop at UGA. But Kirby prefers to go with whoever has the least NFL potential, so I suspect Baker Mayfield might have fallen out of favor.

The OP was teaching me a history lesson about no playoff teams having walk on QBs. I brought up Mayfield who won the Heisman and was 1st overall draft pick, and won a gazillion awards and is now a successful pro. He never responded. It is noted.

Great comparison Peter. Bennett is just like a First round pick, nfl starter, heisman winner.
